What does it mean to be a son of God? A lot of what makes a son a son boils down to how he thinks. The scriptures quote, “So a man thinketh, so is he”. I postulate that in order to walk in the fullness of sonship, we must first learn to think like a son. Not just any son however, we must think with the mind of Christ. Let’s take a few moments to explore what the mind of Christ is and how we can access it.

The Mind of Christ
Before we get into an in depth analysis of the mind of Christ, let us first observe the mind of God. What is it that makes God’s mind different from ours? I will utilize the bible to help me provide knowledge concerning the mind of God.
Isaiah 55:8 states, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.”
This statement immediately brings us to understand that God thinks and behaves differently than we do, but in what way? Let’s take a look at John Chapter 1, verse 1.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
Did you know that the word “word” in this verse translates to the word Λόγος, which translates “Logos”. A quick google search describes the logos as
“The Greek word λόγος, or logos, is a word with various meanings. It is often translated into English as "Word," but can also mean thought, speech, meaning, reason, proportions, principle, standard, or logic, among other things.” (www.newworldencyclopedia.org)

This description reveals that when it comes to the mind of God it all boils down to the Logos. The three words here that I often resonate with most are the words reason, principle, and logic. To know the word of God (logos) is to know the logic of God. The logic of God refers to how God thinks. God has chosen Christ to reveal the way he thinks to the world. Therefore the mind of God is the mind of Christ.
If we were to take the mind of Christ and study its attributes, what would we find? We would surely observe a mind that is focused on accomplishing one thing, and that’s doing the will of The Father. Christ, the only begotten son of God, was focused on His Father and was more interested in pleasing Him than pleasing others. If Christ, who was perfect in every way, made it his mission to satisfy the Father’s will, shouldn't we as humans prioritize the Father’s will above all else in our lives?
To think like a Son is to prioritize the will of the Father in our minds. What is this will? The will of God requires us to love our neighbors, know His Son, and become perfect just as he is. As a son grows in sonship however, God’s will may become more varied according to each individual son's gifts.
So in essence, to think like a son is to think like Christ, and to think like Christ is to focus on accomplishing and doing the will of the Father.
