What is Christian Metaphysics?

Truth Unity defines Christian Metaphysics as being “focused on the Christ within, and the calling, in the words of Jesus, to love as he loved and to do the works that he did.”

How would I define Christian Metaphysics?

I would define Christian Metaphysics as a practice of living that enables people to access an unseen realm that carries its own laws unique to our own.

Christian Metaphysics focuses on Christian concepts and ideas that originate from Christian thought and teachings found in the bible.

Christian metaphysics is useful in that it explores Christian ideas on a deeper level. It analyzes the reality behind these truths and focuses our attention on the inner man by presenting Christ as an archetype of the higher self.

I personally have been studying and practicing Christian Metaphysics for a little over 7 years as I got into it as a result of evolving through Christianity. I believe that every Christian who resonates with Christianity on a higher level will eventually come in contact with Christian Metaphysics.

I make this claim because I believe that the Christian path of human evolution eventually culminates in an inward transformation that leads to God Consciousness. The bible does an excellent job storytelling and communicating wisdom based concepts and ideas. It also presents deeper truths and concepts that a lot of people seem to miss because of one underlying reason. They think that the bible is pointing them to a relationship with God and that’s it. Sure, a relationship with God is important, but it is not the end goal of the scriptures.

The end goal is to actually transform human beings into divine beings through a growth process known as theosis. The best way theosis can be explained is through a quote, “God became man so that man could become God”. This is to say that in the person of Jesus Christ, God incarnated as a man in order to reveal to man that he is more than just a man, but that he is a God as well. Jesus made claims time and time again stating how mankind would do even greater things than he did, pointing them to the reality of their divinity and Godlike potential.

With the advent of the holy spirit this transformation from lower consciousness to higher consciousness is possible. The holy spirit is known in scriptures as a helper and “prunes” humans in order to help them grow towards and realize their divine potential. Think of the holy spirit as a case manager who oversees your spiritual growth in order to make sure you’re growing according to God’s unique plan of ascension.

Everyone’s plan of ascension is different and highly varied to some degree. This is because everyone is different in personality. This difference in personality allows for everyone to have a unique ascension plan according to who they are as people. For example, one may ascend primarily through relationships, while another may ascend primarily through philosophical study and meditation. The different paths of ascension are as varied as the number of stars in the sky. What is more important to realize is that no one’s path to ascension is the “right” path.

Although different paths to ascension are unique, there are some similarities that all paths contain. All paths contain obstacles and challenges that present people with opportunities to love more. Universally, all ascension paths ultimately lead to a higher understanding of love.

This is why you can gauge where someone is spiritually, by their ability to love not just the things and people they like, but also the things and people they don’t like.

As has been said before by many, love is truly the answer.

A trap that many seekers of truth including myself fall into is that we get caught up in the accumulation of knowledge. We like to feel important because of what we know. The truth is that on a higher level our knowledge does not mean much at all.

This is because that on this level of reality our knowledge is somewhat obscured. We only perceive things through the limitations of our human mind and our human senses. By default, we see reality through unclear lenses that lead us towards personal biases that may not represent or capture the fullness of reality.

ree

What this means is that we are only seeing a small sliver of the big picture at any given time. Realizing this should cause us to see how frail our perceptions are and how impartial our understanding of reality truly is. With this in mind, maybe we will focus more on loving each other, instead of being smarter than one another. Love is the only thing that requires little to no intelligence, but is more powerful than even the most intelligent ideas or concepts. A person who is walking in love carries more weight in the spiritual world than someone who is walking in knowledge or intellect.

Christian metaphysics ultimately teaches its practitioners how to embody love by and through a revelation of the God-man within. It does not teach Christ as a person, but as an archetype representing man's true self.

In a future blog we will explore this archetype and discover what it means for us as humans in a sometimes chaotic world.
